Vintage Collages…

…many months ago I checked out a book at the library about vintage collages. I fell in love with the eccentric nature of the collages and HAD to try them with the residents. These are two examples from google…

We have done them before and revisited the activity again today. It almosts goes to show that I don’t always need to spend MASSIVE amounts of money on activities for the residents. I need to bring home my original collage. it was fun to put big heads on little bodies or give men zebra legs…. today one of my residents said, “I don’t understand! Why is this so relaxing?”

Well, here are some of the art that was created. The pink background was made by my favorite resident Tania. she signed the back, “Laura, Just push back the beads and hands til its where you want it. Love T.” She knows I am depressed about turning 27 so she is talking about the hands of time. She is a big hippy and I love the way she thinks and processes information.

This is my piece of art…. The bugs/flies have 3D wings… kind of creepy looking…

What the resident said is true…. cutting paper and pasting it together is suprisingly relaxing… doing this activity, I do not even mind the mess we make!

I am a conservative, slightly old-fashioned crazy girl. I love to read, write, sew, scrapbook, cook, bake, do crafts, enjoy nature, take my car off-roading, ride my bike, and just stay busy. I sometimes say I want a lazy day BUT I hate not having anything to do which means I frequently stretch myself too thin. I am the Life Enrichment Director at an assisted living facility. I love being around the elderly population. They are such amazing people who have so much to offer and teach. I also love the little guys too... I love being around kids, especially my nieces and nephews! In December of 2019 I was diagnosed with a Chiari Malformation that quite literally may have been a life changing diagnosis. I went from feeling like I was crazy. To maybe having answers.
