So…

Everybody is blogging about this massive snow and ice storm we had. I had to drive to work every day inside the massive amounts of crazy drivers on the road… Monday and Tuesday were no problem… Wednesday was a little slower… THURSDAY on the other hand was stressful… We made it down 410… we made it onto 167 and that is when the fun began. We were driving along and were surrounded by cars. A rather large and thick chunk of ice flew off a car in front of us and came flying RIGHT for my car. I could not swerve to move out of the way because of cars on both sides and icy conditions. It hit my car at full – flying- twisting- slo-motion speed. We thought for sure my car window would break but God was really watching out for us! My coworker is surprised I didn’t swerve or flip out… I was shaking the whole rest of the way to work… and once I was at work… the ice is what did me in. On the way home we couldn’t make it onto the freeway… traffic was so bad that we would either have had to wait 3-4 hours to make it home or turn around. We turned around and I am so happy I packed extra clothes. My coworker stayed at her grandson’s babysitters house (which also happens to be the home of my blind date) so I stayed in Kent with my coworker Jessica. I LOVE JESSICA!!! It was crazy… it was a long week… it was stressful but I got to spend the weekend with my sister and her kids which made the stress worth it… The picture of me not looking was suppose to be a cute picture of Jessica and me in the snow but a branch was falling… OOPS

I was doing so good…

… at blogging everyday… which I guess is not necessary. What has happened since the last time I blogged? I turned 27, I had my first major repairs on my good ol’ car (new brakes, rotors, and calipers), I am going on a blindish date next Friday (which I am nervous about!). Most people do not think i am shy but I really am!!! Anyways, my coworker and her friend that are doing the set-up said they are going to follow us around and take photos… so you might get a photo…. ERG!!!

Anyways, I need to reload my pinterest “pin it” button so before I forget this link… I will just post it here…

Vintage Collages…

…many months ago I checked out a book at the library about vintage collages. I fell in love with the eccentric nature of the collages and HAD to try them with the residents. These are two examples from google…

We have done them before and revisited the activity again today. It almosts goes to show that I don’t always need to spend MASSIVE amounts of money on activities for the residents. I need to bring home my original collage. it was fun to put big heads on little bodies or give men zebra legs…. today one of my residents said, “I don’t understand! Why is this so relaxing?”

Well, here are some of the art that was created. The pink background was made by my favorite resident Tania. she signed the back, “Laura, Just push back the beads and hands til its where you want it. Love T.” She knows I am depressed about turning 27 so she is talking about the hands of time. She is a big hippy and I love the way she thinks and processes information.

This is my piece of art…. The bugs/flies have 3D wings… kind of creepy looking…

What the resident said is true…. cutting paper and pasting it together is suprisingly relaxing… doing this activity, I do not even mind the mess we make!
